Boral Gutter Replacement: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
If your Boral gutter system has a cracked section, a separated seam, or a downspout that’s pulled away from the house, we stock Boral-compatible replacement gutters and install them throughout San Diego. Most Boral gutter replacements run between $18 and $32 per linear foot installed, depending on the profile and whether we’re also replacing hangers, end caps, or downspouts. You usually discover the problem the hard way: water pouring over the edge during a winter storm, a sagging run you can see from the driveway, or paint peeling below the fascia where overflow has been running for months.
We’re an independent San Diego roofing and gutter contractor, not a Boral dealer or corporate arm, which means we stock what actually holds up in this climate and we tell you honestly when a section can be saved versus replaced.
Which Boral Models This Applies To
Boral’s gutter line in the U.S. market centers on their steel and aluminum profiles, most commonly the Boral Steel gutter system in half-round and quad (box) profiles. The compatibility gotcha most owners hit is this: Boral’s steel profiles use a 5-inch and 6-inch width spec, but the mounting clip spacing differs from generic hardware-store hangers. If you buy a universal hanger and it doesn’t seat into the Boral lip properly, the gutter will pull away within a season or two. We match the original hanger type, not just the gutter width.
The second gotcha is downspout sizing. Boral 6-inch quad gutters need the matching 3×4-inch downspout outlet, and mixing a smaller outlet onto a larger gutter chokes flow during heavy San Diego rain, which backs water up under the eave. For OEM versus aftermarket: Boral’s own replacement sections are well-made, but we routinely install quality aftermarket steel and aluminum profiles that match the color and roll-form exactly, often saving 30 to 40 percent without a visible difference. We’ll show you the section against your existing gutter before we cut anything.

Signs Your Boral Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water spilling over the front lip during rain. This usually means the gutter pitch has flattened or a hanger has let go, so water pools instead of running to the downspout. In San Diego’s dry stretches, the problem hides until the first real storm exposes it.
- Visible rust streaks or pinhole leaks along the bottom. Steel gutters, even coated ones, eventually wear through where wet leaves sit. Coastal San Diego air speeds that up, especially within a few miles of the ocean.
- Seams pulling apart at the corners or end caps. The sealant Boral and most installers use dries and cracks over time. A separated seam leaks slowly for months before anyone notices the staining below.
- Gutter sagging or pulling away from the fascia board. This is usually failed hangers or rotted fascia wood behind them, not the gutter itself. If we catch it early, we can often re-hang the existing section instead of replacing it.
- Downspout detached or overflowing at the elbow. A clogged or undersized downspout forces water back up, and the weight of a backed-up downspout can tear it off the wall. By the time it’s on the ground, the gutter above it usually needs attention too.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For San Diego homes, expect to pay $18 to $32 per linear foot for Boral-compatible gutter replacement installed. A typical single-story home with 120 to 160 linear feet of gutter lands between $2,200 and $5,100, and the range comes down to profile style, height, and how much of the hardware we’re reusing or replacing.
Every quote includes the gutter sections, hangers matched to the Boral spec, end caps, sealant, downspout connections, and haul-away of the old material. We write the price before any work starts, and it doesn’t change once we’re on the ladder unless you ask for additional scope. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t right within a year, we make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, on every job.

Honest answer from a guy who has spent the better part of two decades on San Diego ladders: you can safely check a few things yourself. Look for visible sag, run your finger along the inside after a dry week to feel for grit and rust scale, and watch the corners during the next rain with a flashlight. Those observations help you describe the problem when you call.
What we don’t recommend is swapping a gutter section from an extension ladder at roofline height. Gutters are long, awkward, and under tension when they come loose. A lot of the repairs we do start as a DIY job gone sideways, and the fall risk is real. If the section is on a single-story run and you’re experienced on a ladder with a spotter, a simple seam reseal is reasonable. For replacement on a two-story San Diego home, let us do it. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician whose name and photo you’ll have before they arrive, and they’ll badge in at the door with a photo ID. Call (619) 810-5520 for a free estimate.
FAQs
Coated steel Boral gutters typically last 15 to 25 years in San Diego, but homes within a few miles of the coast often see the lower end because salt air accelerates rust, especially at seams and end caps. Aluminum profiles can last longer but dent more easily. Call (619) 810-5520 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your gutters have years left or are done.
Small pinholes and separated seams can often be cleaned, patched, and resealed for a fraction of replacement cost. If the metal is rusted through along the bottom or the hanger lips are deformed, replacement is the better call. We’ll show you the section before we recommend one over the other.
Most single-story San Diego homes are done in half a day, and two-story homes usually take a full day. We’ll give you a written time frame with the quote so you know what to expect before we start.
We stock common 5-inch and 6-inch profiles in white, brown, and gray on our trucks, along with the matching Boral-spec hangers and downspout outlets. If your color or profile is less common, we order it and usually have it in hand within a few days. Call (619) 810-5520 and we’ll confirm what we have for your specific setup.
